Rebecca Hilsenrath, EHRC Chief Executive said:

We need more women in politics. We all know that. It would be fantastic to end an outdated rule that stops women being mothers at work. Being an MP is a tough job with long hours working on behalf of the country and we need to make it easier for a whole range of people to do that job. It is great to hear that Parliament supports these recommendations.

MPs have a responsibility to be role models as well as running the country.  If these changes are brought in this kind of leadership will be an example to other businesses.  Almost one in four of the employers we surveyed said they were unclear on how to accommodate mothers breastfeeding or expressing milk at work.  Why doesn’t Parliament show them how?
