As Parliament debates the Bill to leave the European Union, Equality and Human Rights Commission Chair, David Isaac, has called for equality and human rights impact assessments to be included:
As negotiations begin over the terms of Brexit, any deals reached must be assessed for their impact on people’s rights. Our message has been clear that there must be no rowing back on the protection of people’s rights as we leave the European Union. We are calling for equality and human rights impact assessments of every relevant legislative proposal to be presented to Parliament so all the evidence needed to ensure these protections are maintained is taken into account.
Further details on our view of the impact of Brexit can be found in our evidence to the Women and Equalities Committee and the Joint Statement on Human Rights.
