EHRC response to ICEC report 'Holding Up a Mirror to Cricket'

Published: 27 June 2023

A Spokesperson for the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) said:

“We welcome this report from the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket, to which we contributed, and will consider its concerning findings carefully.

“There is no place for racism or sexism in sport, or in wider society. Building on our work in 2021-22 to support change at Yorkshire County Cricket Club, we will continue to work with the England and Wales Cricket Board to ensure that the necessary bold steps are taken to eliminate all discrimination in cricket.

“All cricket clubs must take this overdue opportunity to tackle discrimination and harassment, so that no one involved in cricket, whether as an amateur or a professional, suffers the racism or sexism that others faced in the past and many continue to face today."
