What countries does this apply to?

  • England
  • Wales

This report gives information on the fulfilment of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) in Great Britain since our last report in 2018. It indicates where progress has been made in recent years and where further work is required.

It covers the following topics:

  • the equality and human rights legal framework
  • conditions at work
  • poverty
  • housing
  • social care
  • access to healthcare
  • cultural life

Our report emphasises that equality and non-discrimination are essential to the realisation of economic, social and cultural rights. We have made recommendations to the UK and Welsh governments. We encourage them to use the ICESCR reporting process to strengthen their efforts to tackle inequalities in the enjoyment of economic, social and cultural rights, and improve compliance with their human rights obligations.
