Queen's Speech 2017: equality laws must not be watered down in Brexit

Published: 21 March 2017

Responding to the commitments outlined in today's Queen's Speech, Equality and Human Rights Commission Chair, David Isaac, said:

At a time when our country needs to come together, we welcome the government’s commitment to ending discrimination of all kinds and improving worker’s rights. We have strong human rights and equality laws and the government must ensure they are not watered down as we leave the European Union. Brexit provides us with an opportunity to strengthen these legal protections and we urge the government to grasp it.
