What is the consultation for?
The white paper aims to promote community-centred care to help people with disabilities or mental health issues to live independent and healthy lives and to tackle disparities in health outcomes.
Why have we responded to the consultation?
We want to ensure proposals will benefit everyone, including people sharing protected characteristics, and that equality and human rights considerations are taken into account.
Our recommendations
In our response to this consultation, we advise the Government to:
- reference the Equality Act and set out how proposals will drive compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty
- ensure an integrated health and social care system drives progress on equality and respects, protects and fulfils the human rights of its users
- address the treatment and experience of low-paid health and social care workers
- address digital exclusion, privacy implications of data sharing and bias in the use of artificial intelligence
