Welcoming the Secretary of State and Minister for Women and Equalities’ decision to appoint June Milligan as the new EHRC Wales Commissioner, Rebecca Hilsenrath, Chief Executive of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said:

Dr June Milligan’s biography
June Milligan draws her experience and insight from a wide range of leadership roles in public service, including as a Governor in long-term and maximum security prisons, as a Diplomat representing the UK to the European institutions in Brussels, and as a Ministerial policy adviser and Principal Private Secretary.
Most recently June served as a Board Member of the devolved Government in Wales, with responsibilities as Director General and Accounting Officer for Local Government and Communities, and for leading and championing Equality and Diversity.
June is currently a Trustee of the Young Foundation, and a lay member of the governing body of the University of Glasgow.
