What the Bill covers
The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act makes provision for ratifying the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement and incorporating it into the domestic law of the UK.
Why we are briefing on this subject
We wanted to make sure that Great Britain’s equality and human rights laws were not weakened now that the UK has left the EU.
Our main recommendations
We made recommendations aimed at:
- ensuring that there was no regression or legal uncertainty in relation to protections for equality and human rights
- ensuring parliamentary scrutiny of any changes to equality and human rights legislation, and ruling out the use of delegated powers to weaken those laws
