David Lammy MP today published his independent review of the treatment of, and outcomes for, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals in the Criminal Justice System.
David Isaac, Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said:
Everybody should have full trust in our criminal justice system and the Lammy Review is a major contribution to understanding the challenges we face to achieve this. It reflects many of the concerns our own race report, Healing a Divided Britain, raised and enforces our calls for a diverse justice workforce and thorough and transparent data collection. It also echoes the criticisms voiced by the United Nations last year.
The Government must respond to the review urgently and put in place a comprehensive race strategy with stretching targets to reduce the race inequality that is so apparent in our society.
