Responding to the launch of a new online tool showing the gender pay gap by profession, Equality and Human Rights Commission CEO Rebecca Hilsenrath said:
Any young women looking at this will be shocked by the lower pay they could face in their future careers compared to men. We hope the transparency provided by this information will highlight the true scale of the issue across different occupations, and force employers to take vital steps to close unfair gender pay gaps.
Women are a vital part of all workforces and it is shameful that women continue to face barriers that hold them back. For businesses to thrive, they need to harness the talents, skills and experience of all employees.
