The socio-economic duty is part of the Equality Act 2010. It aims to reduce inequality for people who experience socio-economic disadvantage.

This report looks at how 24 public bodies in Scotland and Wales are implementing, or preparing to implement, the duty.

  • the barriers that get in the way
  • how the duty affects the behaviour of public bodies
  • the steps needed to ensure future success
